18th February – The day we were supposed to go to Nusa Lembongan

We head to one of the three little islands off South East Bali and we shall stay on one called Nusa Lembongan. Grabbed a bemo, these are buses that locals use to get around, you will find them in most cities and they are quite frequent. The buses are rickety but you get to meet locals when you use them.

We were dropped off at Padang Bai for 30,000 IDRs each and we made our way to the ferry to be told the ferry leaves at 2pm but not to Lembongan but to the bigger island of Nusa Penida then we have to take a boat to our island. If you get dropped off at the ferry place, ask for the shuttle bus station or say Gili Cat office for travel agencies.

After much deliberation and looking at our options, taking a local fishermans boat which can be dangerous or taking a fast boat which is very expensive we ended up deciding we will go back to Ubud instead. Another option which was the best one is to take a ferry from Sanur but that would mean missing out on a whole day as the ferry had already left for the day.

Booked our tickets for shuttle bus from Padang Bai to Ubud for 50,000 IDRs per person. Waited for 3hrs in a cafe listening to one of the bar men play various songs on his guitar, had a request of Redemption song by Bob Marley played for me.

At 1pm we left for Ubud, we were happy to be back and went back to same hotel we stayed in before and same room. It felt like coming home, Julie excited and throwing her arms around me.

Had lunch at Dewa Warung and dinner at Melting Wok. Julie could not be more happier.
