30th December – Stuck inside because of Cyclone Thane in Mamallapuram

Happy Birthday Vanisha!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Liddy and Prav.

Cyclone Thane has definitely hit the shores as it battered the hotel and could hear the rain pour and pour. The mosquitoes were also kept away by us lighting the coil throughout the whole night. We have not had electricity for 12hrs now and no hot shower.

We had breakfast at Le Yogi and then the girls left me to do some shopping in the downpour. Crazy I know.

Whilst sat in the bar I met two girls from Germany (Susan and another that I didn’t catch). The had been travelling in south India for 7 weeks and had a week or so to go. Then they hit South Africa for two months.

Susan and I talked about life, jobs and boyfriends and girlfriends.

I was then joined by two English girls (Phoebe and Flora) who were teaching in a village about 3hrs from here. Chatted for a while with them and they had to leave because one of then had been naughty the previous night and the guy had entered Le Yogi.

I have been reading the book “The Kite Runner” the past two days and been soo engrossed in it and more than 2/3rds through it. Oh how I love the book, not sure if his other book “A Thousand Splendid Suns”.

Spent the evening playing UNO, had dinner at Nautilus and then read more of my book.
